holiday gifts

Well i managed to make a few holiday gifts. Its amazing how much work one can do within a limit time. This is why i NEED deadlines. the two dog quits were done in two nights and the large whole cloth piece took two nights of quilting. The two dog quilts were done for my mother and sister, the little pom is my mothers and was done using photo printed fabric of the dog. The doberman with the floppy ears was done with my embrodiery machine and then hand painted. A fun technique that i had published in Creative Embrodiery Magazine. The last piece, a whole cloth, was a piece of fabric from 1973. It was once a wall hanging, streched on a frame that hung over my uncles couch. Sometime in the late 80's I was given the couch and all the 1970's accesories. For some reason i kept the cloth and found it this summer while cleaning my attic. I thought my uncle would get a kick out of getting it back quilted and ready to hang again! You can really see the quilting work on it, in this horrible photo. There are little animals quilted into the white parts. Well time to get back to work. More deadlines to meet.

I'm a new Fibre Pirate, the one that stirred them all up and got them talking again. :0)

I love these quilts and the thoughts behind them. Of course the dog quilts are so sweet, but the 70's quilt...who'd have thought that would come round again and be desirable. It would sure look good in my house!
